If you are working with a recruiter and at any point they say something along the lines of:-
"I cannot tell you where I will or have sent your details, as at this stage I will not name my clients"
This is an absolute load of rubbish
I have heard similar versions of the above several times over the years from people who have had things like that said to them by recruiters.
So their CV is sat on the desk or in the inbox of firms they did not consent to or might not have wanted to approach.
If anyone ever says this to you tell them in no uncertain terms you do not want your CV sent out anywhere without your consent.
There may often be more than 1 suitable option for you and there is nothing wrong in considering a few options or making applications to more than 1 firm.
There is also nothing wrong with a recruiter mapping out the market and making anonymous enquiries and utilising their contacts to see if they can open any doors for you.
When it comes to your CV and identifiable details however, you should ALWAYS know which firms have been approached.
This is your job search and an agent is acting for you in the market- You deserve to be in control at all times.
The agent should be working with you and assisting you, not going behind your back or keeping you in the dark about YOUR search and where they are sending YOUR personal details.
If you are looking to work with a recruiter make sure you work with one that is open, honest, transparent and works with integrity.
